Previous: AST to discuss Safe Standing

Monday 23rd January 2017 - 18:30

The next meeting of the AST will take place at 6.30pm on Monday 23 January.
The meeting will be held at the offices of Nabarro located at 125 London Wall London EC2Y 5AL – map location here.

The meeting will take an in depth look at the current debate about Safe Standing.

We are delighted that we will be joined by two guest speakers with a great understanding of this subject:

  • John Nagle, Head of Policy, EFL (Football League)
  • Peter Daykin who co-ordinates the Football Supporters Federation (FSF) campaign activity in this area.

At a meeting in November the Premier League agreed to investigate the full range of issues around the topic before reporting back to the clubs.

“The clubs have tasked the Premier League with scoping out the safety, supporter, technical and legislative issues surrounding safe standing before any further discussions, based on the facts, can take place,”.

This will include discussion with Supporters Groups building on a meeting the AST had with the Premier league chief executive last summer when we urged him to review the issue.

This debate follows the successful introduction of Safe Standing by Celtic. You can read more about this here.

In the coming weeks the AST intends to undertake a further survey of the views of Arsenal fans on this subject working with other supporter groups.

This meeting will be an important part of understanding the views of members and taking the debate forward.

All members are welcome to attend.

We will also be joined by Alex Fynn [who together with co-author Kevin Whitcher] brought their Arsenal book up to date to September 2016.
